Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
Well, the appearance of that bleeping arp (more prominentn in the "cutting room floor" mix / the "Dark&Long Jam" giveaway) at 6:41 was there for my in the original mix as well.
On the re-master you can you make it out better during the breakdown after 4:45, but it's still very much filtered and drowned in reverb.

Am i hearing things? Disk 5, Improv 2. For the first minute or two, is that bloody Alabaster White Thing played a little faster?

Nah, that's "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.I.", the little improv between Thing In A Book and Spoon Deep from Sheffield 1994. It's close but Alabaster White Thing uses a bell-ier sound and has a different note pattern.

Thing in a book still has the hitch at ~9:00 a slight hiss on that and dark train too. Haven't had a chance to give others a listen yet.

And for the record, "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.I." still means "Someone Will Find A Better Name For It", right?

Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
My order hasn't made it to Arizona yet....hopefully tomorrow. Very anxious to dig in. I know I could listen to it on Spotify, but I want to have the first listen of it be the full audio, not a lossy format.

Maybe my mail man is a secret Underworld fan and borrowed it.

Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
If anyone wants access to the cleaned tracks from the Deluxe set :

Some of disc 4 (6 tracks)
All of disc 5
and now I have also included Dirty Guitar and Dark and Long (Dark Train) from disc 2 minus hiss and Thing in a Book from disc 3 minus the 3 glitches around 9.10 (These have been present since its first appearance and should really have been sorted for this release!)

Please PM me and I will send you a link to my server where you can download them all.

IMPORTANT: Nobody should be distributing or seeking mp3s of officially published tracks on these forums. There are rules written here somewhere about that. But this place shouldn't become somewhere for that - It doesn't matter if people have already bought the album and want an alternate version - this kind of practice should be nipped in the bud and stopped immediately.

Don't really know how I feel about any of this. What was released was released as they intended.. they are not "mistakes" or "glitches" when they are presented like that on every format - that is obviously how they were finished in the master file.

If by fixing hiss you mean that you have reduced or completely blocked out a frequency range then count me out. I'd like to think that the tracks were all provided in a cleaned state, clean enough that they can be enjoyed but not so much that the original and integral quality of the audio is damaged or undermined.

There is hiss on a live recording from 1992 because the recording happened to have hiss on it - any extra work done on it will damage the recording.

I'll take the hiss.

Seconded. Even if that glitch in TiaB wasn't originally intended in 1994, they chose not to remove it in the remaster and I trust their choice and whatever reason they made it

Sorry to the forum, I didn't see that rule above and was not aware I had done anything wrong - I just saw the no posting links. I didn't intend to upset anyone. Obviously each if us has our own opinion. I was just disappointed with the varying quality of these releases. I don't think they were re-mastered beyond the original album, only Rick would know the truth there.
