Re: Burntout?
yea - it sucks b/c at first - THEY WEREN"T!!!!!! but I was lazy, and didn't download them right away (grumble)

but you can still get them on bleep.com (but only as 320kbps mp3's)

not that I'm complaining, 320 is still quite good, but it'd sure be nice to be able to burn them to an audio disc, and not have to worry about the space on my computer, know what I mean?

if you feel like it, there have been a ton of promo cd's floating
around with the mixes, (at semi-reasonable prices)...now that
the intial market of 'gotta have it first' people have it, you can
find it pretty easily (ok, maybe not the 6 track version), but
the other 3 aren't that hard to find..

Re: Burntout?
i think every album they have, has
one stand out track, and this is it for this album..
(the first 2 albums had a few tracks that really stand out)..

however, i think that out of all them,
this is probably the weakest....for some reason,
even though its great live, the album version seems
cut off...the full unedited version is better, but is
still not near the caliber of their earlier tunes...(and
even not up to the 'riverun' standards)...

don't know why, it has most of the trademark underworld
sounds.....i don't think the remixes do it justice, and even
underworlds own video mix, and what dog mix are still a
step down from the usual..

i know it placed high in the poll, but i think its just because
it's fresh right now....if it stands the test of time, yeah then
it might be considered 'up there'...

I disagree. I think BB can stand it's own amongst uw's best tracks. I also think OWB has a few more standout tracks: Crocodile and Mamgu.

R&K have said that "Biro/Burnout" was one of the songs that took the longest to complete in their career. We know it's been kicking around since at least 2002. That said, i agree with K0S, that BB is one of their epic tracks. In fact, if it was placed first on the LP and a lil longer, well, i won't say it's on par with Juanita, but it's dang impressive.

OWB has its share of short, what the heck are they doing moments, some successful like "To Heal", others a bit superfluous "Good Morning Cockerel" and "Cuddle Bunny vs the Celtic Villages" could be dropped without me missing them). But still a lot of really strong material. "Faxed Invitation" is just so smooth, and "Glam Bucket" gives me shivvers.

Negative1, i do see your point on the UW remixes. The What Dog and video edit for BB give it a bt more punch but stay true to the original, which is not what the boys used to do for their own remixes (Pearls Girl, Cowgirl, and especially Dark & Long remixes were so much like separate new tracks). So maybe we were a bit spoiled by their past, and they haven't really done remixes for a while. Hopefully more planned for the future?
Short story...since Lovely Broken Thing in 05, i think the band has been loosening up and trying great new things. Not everything will appeal to those raised on STITI or Dubno, but it's still the music i'd prefer to listen to over most everything else!

Well said. I love OWB w/ "Faxed Invitation" & "Beuatiful Burnout" my favs. Haven't listened to many of the remixes for the new material, but am glad to hear the band is remixing their new material. Can't wait to BB again in ATL!

It was played at Electraglide in 2000. No lyrics, but the music is the same.

Indeed! Just pulled that show out for a listen! Crowd was really into it, and it's amazing how many elements survived all these years.
They also played an amazing hard jam at that show with Karl quoting "I like the sound of your voice"... sad thing is, my version of the track cuts out at 3:41, though i've heard there's a longer version. Can anyone help me out?
