Re: crocodile - oliver huntemann remix
It has much going for it but then gets stuck in the sand somewhere. What I really miss in it though, is the AAAAAAAAAAAAlllllllllll these things...
Not much of a 'vocal' mix with one of the most noticable bits of lyrics cut from it, is it?

Re: crocodile - oliver huntemann remix
Hmm... I seem to be the only person who thinks this is brilliant. I guess a) I love my minimal and b) this is gonna be a big club hit, imo and c) while i get the point about the "all these things", imo the chorus is way too melodic for the sound that huntemann is trying to create here. This is dark, deep and brooding and something melodic and sing-songy in the middle would have ruined that atmosphere.

I'm not saying this is better than the original, just brilliant in its own way, as a stand-alone piece.

Can't wait to hear this version in a club, with that bass thumping me in the guts.

Re: crocodile - oliver huntemann remix
I really enjoy this remix too. I love the bass. I love the darkness. I love the no effect vocals. I can agree that it seems to loose something but then towards the end it kicks up again.

I think that the chorus would have ruined this track. As much as I like lyrically 'happy' sounding Underworld of late, I prefer the darker mood of Dubno and Second Toughest.

The original crocodile has, at least to me, those darker sounds in the music, but the chorus seems to lift it up and make it a nice feel good track. (which is great and all, but I happed to like darker stuff)

i don't think Crocodile in it's original form is a very happy song. it doesn't sound dark but it def. doesn't sound anywhere near as joyous as TMO.

I agree, which is why I think that I will enjoy this album a whole lot better than the last one!

Dig the remix and the original. Very moody & would be excellent in a warm-up set. Both on good club soundsystems =

way to go Huntemann. remove the melody. that really makes a song better. Minimal remixes sometimes remove what is good about a song and leave it sounding unfinished, and this is the case here.

Well, it makes it a different song, effectively. But that is what remixers do. They strip out the bits they want and build their own sound around them. I don't think it sounds unfinished as such. Just minimal.

A "compare and contrast" example would be This World by Slam vs the remix of it. The original was light, airy, happy and melodic. The Wiighnomy/Wruhme remix was stripped down, dark, glitchy and virtually bereft of melody at all. You wouldn't even recognise them to be the same song if they were played back to back. At least Oliver Huntemann has kept a large element of the original.

It's all horses for courses. As I said earlier, I don't think this is better than the original just different from it, and I like it just as much. I am sure there will be other more "classic" club mixes coming out soon too.

Edit: Adding linkys for aural demonstration purposes

Re: crocodile - oliver huntemann remix
Agree that the untreated vocals are a nice touch as i can make out more of the excellent lyrics. Overall the remix definitely takes the track in a new direction, but not so successfully...Kind of has a Trentmoeller feel to it. Is that a good thing or bad thing?

But the droning bass kind of drives me crazy. If this was played in a club, my ears would be bleeding from the bass. The majority of the track is just the bass and a bunch of lo-fi drum sound effects, which plip, plop, roll and echo to annoying excess.

In short, kudos for the effort, but i'm not really feeling this one...looking forward to other mixes.
