Re: ebay tokyo cd's to be listed tomorow..
The cds were made available to the visitors to electraglide only. Both tokyo and osaka. I heard that there were quite long queues to get them though. even though they were onsale at osaka, it was still the tokyo recording. Underworld/Electraglide had to make an estimate of how many people were likely to buy them and these are the ones left. Never intended to be sold anywhere else. I think so far at least 100 have been sold, probably a little more. If you check the ebay sellers IDs you'll see a lot of dirties there.

Another 50 will be available next week so keep an eye on the forums. Maybe even this thread

KoS cleared up a LOT for me. And again, I misunderstood where these cds were coming from. I still have some stuff to say though :P

I easily missed the fact that there was a limited number for the simple reason that UW said these would ONLY be sold at Electraglide. I assumed they were repressing the disc to sell to dirts due to the incredibly overwhelming response they had to this disc. To me, its THAT good. It blows away EE and that was a store release. Elec. is THE live set to have if you like UW live sets. Its also confusing as to Yan's involvement with UW these days, so its hard to tell if its Yan selling discs via dirty, or Yan selling discs via UW. I assumed it was Yan selling discs via UW as a means to distribute more sets to the public. At no time did i assume these were leftovers.

The original 10 that were on ebay, sold by mal and yan i guess, were purchased by people that had advanced warning. how else would they have known to check ebay?

Its a shitty feeling for the people (again, im NOT saying for me because i have the high quality mp3s and have been enjoying this show for months now) that wont get them due to whatever reason they cant get them. its only a gifthorse to the select few that get them.

I know I had checked ebay a few times before I even knew about the ones here. I just searche dfor "underworld tokyo" hoping someone from japan may have an extra copy for sale. The few times one showed up, they usually sold for over $100 so I didn't get one. I did bid lower on a few though.

well, when the second batch goes for sale there will be over 100 copies sold primarily to dirts, so i don't think that quite classifies as a "select few". It is a gift horse in the sense that they are selling these cd's that were never originally intended to be sold outside of Electraglide in the first place.

That is complete bollocks. I was in the chatroom at the time one of the guys discovered them by trawling through eBay as usual, and there were only about 6 left at that stage, so I dunno who got the first four. Those of us in the room who could buy one at the time bought one. To begin with we really doubted they were originals - we thought someone had bootlegged a whole load and was taking the piss, so we were a bit wary until we realised that it was Mal from Lemonworld who was selling them. Bear in mind also that it was UK postage only, so some serious organising of postal addresses had to be done for a couple of non-UK Dirts that were in the room. End of story. No "advanced warning", no "conspiracy theory", no "preferential treatment", just a lot of UW geeks chatting amongst themselves who suddenly saw them and thought Christmas had come round again quickly.

Karl had hinted on UW Live to keep an eye on eBay, but in any event, hardcore fans check eBay at least once a day for items, and it just so happened that they were there. Nobody tipped anybody the wink.

So instead of moaning, maybe you could check out the Forum and check out eBay for yourself instead of expecting everything to be delivered to you on a silver platter.

Sorry if I sound ratty, but this row has been going on and on since November when the recording was first announced, and it always seems to be the same people whining.

"Why can't we have the disc outside Japan?"
"Why should people be allowed to sell it on eBay for extortionate amounts?"
"Why should people not share the mp3s through Dirty?"
"Why was I not in/why was my radio not working/why did a snowplough hit my car and prevent me from hearing the gig when it was broadcast?"
"Why have they all got a copy of this and not me when I want one?"
"Why, now that there are 100 available (and still 50 to be released) have I still not got one?"
"It's all so unfair and is a conspiracy!"

Coincidentally, it seems to be the whiners that don't have the disc yet.

Karma?

BB, this didnt stem from me not getting the discs, like i said, i have a wonderful person *wink* to thank for the mp3s and im not trying to say, "gimme my discs!"

this stemmed from MY impression that things were getting overly complicated, overly collectorish, and overly for people in-the-know. again, this is my impression. this is no disrespect to yan or stimp or anyone else because hell, dirty does so much as it is. hopefully i am wrong and just outside the loop here and thus, very misinformed.

and to the above quote... well duh :P
i bid on a set for well over $50US, before i had the mp3s. i really just want a set as a way to support uw. i dont care about collectors condition of music. no dust jackets or sealed display cases here. i like spending money on uw stuff. its quality.

I can only speak for myself here. Let me state my side of things here, as you appear to believe that I have some inside knowledge. Karl made a message on his Underworldlive.com blog some time in late January I believe, about copies being made available on ebay and to watch ebay closely. Since that date thats what I did (I browse ebay regularly for Underworld stuff anyway). One day in February, about 4 or 5 pages in from my generic "Underworld" search I found the Tokyo CDs on sale by chance (they were on the 5th page back because it was ordered by Ending Soonest). There were 4 copies of the 10 left. So i got one (via my friend). In fact, I believe mark3 was one of the first people to get one and he is a big Underworld collector who probably browses eBay every day and it paid off.

Now check the disclaimer in my signature, a statement I made way back in January (and please stop insinuating that I have inside knowledge. No, no offence taken but I'm just making my point). I guess you're just out-of-the-loop or misinformed. You don't have to be though, but keeping an eye on announcements here and not jumping to conclusions helps. Yannick does have direct contact with Underworld and passes on instructions when necessary. He is not selling any of the Tokyo CDs personally. The CDs are whats left of the one and only pressing made for the fans in Japan. When they're gone, they're gone. Which is why I hope the people who want one and havent got one yet make that extra special effort next week and get one. If you get up on time, you WILL get one. Its took about 1 hour for the 50 to go this time.

Ok, I haven nothing more to say in this thread (until maybe next week when the next batch go onsale).

i don't see how i was looking the gift horse in the mouth at all. i'm a very curious person, and like potatobroth (apparantly it is just the 2 of us) i was confused until basically KoS and stimpee's last few posts. it just didn't seem to make much sense going hidden like this etc, why they had only a hundred etc etc.

some of us didn't know and m aybe would have liked to know BB, and ya, if your blood pressure is getting high i don't personally like (or thing) that it is PB's or my fault...

Try reading the forum then - everything has been worked over time and time and time again for months now.

Here...

Here...

and here...

And people keep asking the same questions time and again, and people keep getting the same answers time and again, but it just doesn't seem to sink in somehow. Maybe because some people just have an idea fixed in their head and just can't seem to take it in if it doesn't fit with their false conceptions.

So maybe some people think that by moaning on and on about this and picking holes in everything that is being done that it will somehow change reality?

I dunno. You tell me.
