That was a clock - first 6 digits were military time, last 6 digits were time elapsed in the day (in reverse order). Quick story - they changed the clock to a countdown to the 2012 Olympic City Selection day, and the original designers were furious! I'm not sure we're ever getting that cool clock back. It's still got the NYC2012 graphics up there, why I have no idea.
