Re: Ratatouille
Quote:
I thought the weakest part of this movie was its advertising. I know exactly what everyone thinks about this movie because I thought the exact same thing before I saw it, but I was wrong so you should really give this a chance. A big thing that might change your mind is that the rats are completely realistic to humans. They have long tails and evil glinting eyes and look scuzzy and ratty. They do talk to themselves but that's kind of a surprisingly small amount of the film. mostly it's about the chefs in the kitchen and one rat who gives a (phenomenal) silent performance through most of the film. There are cartoony elements in there but this isn't Flushed Away. And after that, it's a charming as hell story with awesome characters and real emotion. It's easily the most emotionally complex movie I've seen all summer. It's just a shame there's still the stigma of animated film only being for kids (even with Pixar... people should be learning by now). I guess the kids might go for the talking rats but the primary story is a pretty mature one. Can't say enough good about this, really. I urge everyone on here (who watches movies) that's on the fence about it or thinking it looks stupid based on the trailers to give it a shot.
