Re: just got my first UW record!
yes, but what i mean is nothing's really that obscure- you can pretty much find everything by buying 4-5 CDs and a couple of records (okay, maybe that's an exaggeration). but my comparison is to Moby's discography which seems to never end. he's recorded under 7 or so different names and there are so many b sides and unreleased stuff all floating around everywhere- i don't think anyone has actually ever heard it all. he also records under this obscure name:
http://www.happiestguys.com/schaumgummi.html
as the frank zappa of techno i suppose. he's officially released so much stuff, but in so many different forms, like mp3 and cd and tape and vinyl and all sorts of crap, but never from the same place. oh, and listen to UdoWaltz on that webpage- it addresses DE's biggest political crisis ever!

Re: just got my first UW record!
challenge: Come up with a the smallest list of cds/vinyl you can buy and get all the songs UW have realesed (not counting remixes, except where UW have remixed themselves)

Re: just got my first UW record!
wait.... 'schaumgummi' is Moby?

man - I only knew of his Voodoo Child alias (and those ones on that Early Underground compilation, or whatever)

anyways -
mmm skyscraper, as far as the list ->

• Lemon Interrupt (12" singles)
- Bigmouth / Eclipse
- Dirty / Minneapolis

• dubno
- Spikee / Dogman Go Woof (cd or 12")
- Cowgirl / Dirty Epic EP (cd)
- Mmm Skyscraper, I Love You (cd or 12")
- Born Slippy (cd or 12")
- Dark & Long dutch version, well I think it's dutch... it's def. from the EU (cd)
- Dark & Long UK version (cd)
- Mother Earth / the Hump (12")
- Rez / Why Why Why (12") or you can get WWW off of the x2cd Japanese import of dubno (or another edit on some compilation)

• STITI
- Pearls Girl US EP (cd)
- Born Slippy EP (w/the 11+ min version of NUXX) (cd)
- Tomato2 cd-rom (cd)
- Confusion the Waitress (acetate, rare, unless you get it on a mixcd, but I think that's kinda rare too

• BF
- King of Snake Promo w/ Rick's Bungalow Version (cd)
- US BF singles collection (cd) -> should collect at least the majority of remixes, although it's definitely short a few KOS mixes [by other artists]... can't remember if it's got all the PU versions (even the ones that UW did themselves, like 'the large unit' & 'full length of it' versions)

• EE
- the dvd also had some extra audio bits, including a unique version of Dark Train & some short segments too

• AHDO
- DA3D both singles
- TMO both singles

• 1992-2002
- Born Slippy 2003 -> Japanese import, you get the full-length 12" version and Rick's Ambient Down Version)

• Lovely Broken Thing
• Pizza for Eggs
• I'm a Girl...

then - there's of course the UWlive audio bits from over the years, including the "Burger Van Man Gig" which isn't available there anymore

although - this list is probably not the entire list but it's definitely close to all of the releases that contain all UW bsides and remixes done by themselves

[edit]
basically - there are some essential 'imports' (depending on where you live) if you want to get the most tracks
- Pearls Girl US EP
- Dark & Long EU
- Dark & Long UK
- Beacoup Fish Singles US Boxset
- Born Slippy 03 JAP EP

If you're thinking of the April cd, it's Danish. Not pointed at you, Joe, but I really don't know why so many people mix it up all the time.
Anyway, Dutch = from the Netherlands, Danish = from Denmark.
