Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins reunion is sort of old and on-going news.

I don't know how I feel about this. First, I can probably no longer say I went to their second-to-last concert ever. I'm a big fan and really love their music. But I don't know if I really want them to make any more. They are certainly talented musicians, so I can't say they shouldn't make music anymore (at least not individually.) I'm sure they'll put out something that shows their talent and experience and is serviceable. But this is clearly a case of band that can never live up to its past glories. That being said, if they want to make new music, go ahead, I'll probably enjoy it, but I'd also be happy if they just let their past be.

It will be interesting to see what sound they come up with. I never really looked in to Billy Corgan's solo effort because I don't really like that more 'industrial' feel he seems to go for. The Zwan effort sounds like busted Pumpkins with a more arena-rock feel. The album was too slick and over-produced. I did see Zwan on their only tour (I accquired free tickets) and they sounded better live. I hope they get back to their roots, more along the lines of a Siamese Dream sound.

I actually have a Zwan poster I found in the trash at my old college radio station. It's a really cool poster, but it says Zwan, which makes it kind of lame.

Last Zwan mention ever, I swear. At the concert, I saw the simultaneously worst and most hilarious sharpie concert sign ever: 'Medical Students love Zwan!' Seriously, wtf?

Re: Smashing Pumpkins
hahaha. no longer their last concert. that's jelousy

i love sp. i think they are one of the greats in the rock playing field. i saw them their last summer touriing and wwhen i saw them it was pretty neat as i suppose they are historically a very non vocal band on stage. well billies guitar or iha's guitar broke down and the techies were on stage for like 10 minutes while billy and mellissa (she grew up in mtl which is 2 hours away) and iha talked about the band and how stupid the techies were...

and some GREAT albumns

I'd be quite surprised if anything good comes of this.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins
There were rumors of them re-uniting at Lollapalooza this summer in Chicago, which would be pretty intense. It's a bit late for that though.
