Ok, so we should have some deadline or something? What would be a reasonable one?
Please count me in on contributing something...though as noted with others, most of my stuff has been on the darker side. I'll try to write something bright.

Cool, so will mine. I've already got a track started that I think encompasses the energy of summer, if not the general mood. Most of my songs these days get started with lyrics in mind -- I guess I'm getting conventional in my advancing years...

Re: Dirty summer contest/compilation?
Ok, so I think saturday the 20th of May would be a reasonable deadline. You have enough time to make the tune. It's not definitive though. I just want to get the ball rolling here. You can send it to leonotsen@gmail.com along with some information about yourself, kinda like a biography. And a picture if you have one.

There is webspace needed though, to host the songs. I don't know shit about hosting songs or keeping a website. Is there someone who can take care of the hosting and making a proper webpage for it?

Sounds cool, Leon...thanks for getting this moving!

A couple questions though: what would be the preferred format/bitrate for these? Any file size or length limitations? i mean, they could always be edited later to fit on a disc, but in the meantime, what would work best as to not overflow your inbox and keep the submissions consistent in terms of quality?

Thanks,
Holden

Good question. I myself always listen to music at 192 bitrate, as it's good quality and the file size is not too big. I also think it's reasonable for downloaders who haven't got a fast internet connection. If someone has a better idea, it's welcome.
It doesn't matter for my inbox though, I believe gmail can hold quite some MB's.
