Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1

i was driving with my father, a jazz affictionado. We were listening to AHDO, and when "Ess Gee" came on, his ears perked up..."Is this still Underworld?!" he said. I give UW high marks for (a) experimenting ith organic guitar sounds, (b) having the guts to put these experiments on dance albums and (c) not sounding like anyone else when they do! But agreed...AHDO has more misses for me than hits...an easier poll in that respect. But i'm not sure i can call "Luetin" a hands-down favorite. "MoMove" was an awesome first-track, "TMO" is just bliss, and "DA3D" (though maybe a bit too long of a build-up) is still tops for me. All that said, i'm voting for "trim" till it dies. Karl's voice is offtune, the lyrics are ickey, and the hook is annoying!!!

although there is a certain amount of shit on the album (e.g. Ess Gee), some of the stuff on there was good (a refreshing change direction for the band) |

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1
Hmm.
Well Ess Gee was my vote because it is the most dispensible on the album. But after that, I have no idea what I'll choose. Probably Trim... and I would like to see Little Speaker go a long way, because the end is pretty wicked and I'm a Rhodes-addict. Speaking of which, Ballet Lane should last a long time too because of the Rhodes piano. |

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1
I think Ess Gee was the 100 Days Off album killer and partically the reason why no one likes the album (or at the very least, likes it least of all others). Before they released it they stated that they had 100's of songs written and carefully chose the best, but they chose this??? Terrible filler track, it's barely a song.. it would even be terrible as a b-side. Woof!
I'm pretty passionate about my dislike for this track. |

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1
I don't know, it seems unlikely to me that a two-minute track would kill a sixty-minute album. Especially since it really is a pretty-sounding track. "Little Speaker" drags much, much more, and never really goes anywhere until the very end. I'll be voting for "Little Speaker" until it bites the dust. I think the second side of the album is better than the first; sure the first two tracks are great, but I always have a hard time sitting through "Twist," "Sola Sistim," and "Little Speaker" in quick succession. In my opinion, they should have saved those for the B-sides and put on "Like A Swimmer" instead.
