ROFLMAO

The underworld I knew, as in Freur & Underworld MK1 were just a load of people with an "out there" humour! Anyone who remembers that phase of their career and ever heared the old "Uncle Jeff" ramblings would tell you.

Freur decided to change their name, as they were sick of the stick they got by having a name sounding like someone throwing up LOL.

I remember one drunken gig @ Marquee they (Rick, Karl, Bryn & Alfie) were taking about the name change, we were throwing many names back & forward and getting nowhere.

They got a commission to write the music to a upcoming film called Underword. Not anything like the one released a year or so ago, with Kate Beckinsale. We all trolled down to the Premier @ Leicester Square, afterwards we said "THERE'S you new name up on the bill board"

They are as Satanic as Andy Pandy

Re: what is underworls really about?
I suppose youre talking about this Clive Barker adaptation from 1985 then?

from imdb reviews: "The sets are awful (the neon tube underground lab looks like a Gary Numan stage set). The costumes are awful (the gangsters dress like Duran Duran). The music is awful, and the dialogue is awful. The script is so bad its difficult to imagine Barker had anything to do with it."

That's the one. It's also called Transmutations and can be obtained pretty cheaply on video. It's actually pretty funny.

i have it on VHS & Two DVD's both as 'Transmutations' and as 'Underworld' - you can get the DVD for less than a fiver, but its a very shit film...so unless you are a big fan o Underworld's dubious origins or the source of about 4 rare / unreleased Freur tracks...then i'd leave it well alone...

I bought it mainly because of the Freur Soundtrack, which as far as i have ascertained, is not available on any format apart from Celluloid...

although there is a rumoured 4 track cassette type promo from the time with the tracks on it...Jazz Brain is one such track...as is Red Dog's Theme...

IIRC it was named Nicole's Song

LOL @ views on Film, well it WAS the bizzare 80's and nobody did Bizarre better than Freur/Underworld right then

I for one was shocked that people like Denholm Elliot & Art Malik put their names & faces to it it was so naff. But being part of that "scene" at the time, we all went along for the ride of our lives LOL

Remixes! They start with a tune, change it and the changed version became "dun difrunt too" LOL

They were always evolving, from one tune to the next. I am only suprised they have stuck with Dance/Trance so long! They never liked "staying in the same place musically" for too long. Don't be suprised if they try and become the next Elvis LOVL. Karl being a self confessed MEGA Elvis fan

One of the Best film soundtracks they did (IMHO) as Underworld Mk 1 was Promised Land for Wild Orchid
