Re: "and the colour red" - 3rd of April
I think And The Colour Red is much better on headphones. You get to hear all the little details, especially some of the spatial effects and stereo movement of sounds. This song definitely comes from their more dub side where it's all about constraint, precision, and the way sounds occupy a space.

It's definitely better on headphones than on phone or laptop speakers, but still, there's just not much there apart from the kick and the bass. It's a nice beat but the rest of the sounds just aren't very interesting. I'm growing kind of tired of all the noodling with dusty, distorted "the synth has broken down and fallen down the stairs" kind of sounds. I get they're really into that stuff right now though. I mean, compare this to singles from any of the early era's and it's not very memorable is it?

Yeah i get you, King of Snake, and your opinion is valid and appreciated.
Counterpoint: Are those 90's singles more memorable because you have almost 30 years of recollection and nostalgia? I'm in agreement that this new track is not the most epic piece of music UW have ever released, but it's pretty great to hear from a band with such a history, and it's a logical progression of what they've been doing since Drift, which progressed from BBWFASF, out of Barking, etc., etc. If they kept releasing Dubno-style tracks, a certain fanbase would love it, but that'd be seen as playing it safe for many others. Evolution, baby!
