Re: Orbital Tonight
the tracklist looks pretty decent, but it says a lot about their recent (i.e. last twelve years) output if they only play the older stuff live. looks like they realized themselves that the altogether and the blue album were utter shit

Dr ?, though played forever live, was released on The Altogether. It is a bit of a reunion/greatest hits tour, given they've not got new tunes to promote and did release 20rbital last year to commemorate 20 years since Chime. So yeah, they'll play the biggies. While I agee that The Altogether and Blue aren't up to the high standards of their 90's output, they have their moments (Meltdown, esp the 20 minute version, and You Lot are amongst their most banging moments, for instance). Now i've never seen Orbital live, but i do have about 20 bootleg shows - the thing that bugs me is that they don't tend to vary their setlist much and while the live versions are a bit different and certainly must be sights/sounds to behold live, when you hear multiple shows from the same tour, all the shows sound pretty much the same. Now i dunno how mucch is live mixed vs. sequenced, whatever, but it's certainly not improved to the extent of Underworld or even Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk. Still, bring on some new tunes, brothers H!

It's good to hear Orbital is making a smooth return. I wish I could hear the really hard version of Dr. Who. |
