Re: Orbital reform - Tour 2009
It`s funny, because I went to their supposed "last (public) show" at Wire 04 in Yokohama!
I had only been in Japan for 2 months, so this was a nice welcoming gift! I remember Phil Hartnoll taking his lights of at the end of Chime and coming out and bowing to everyone! People in the audience were getting teary eyed and hugging each other. It was the end of a golden era...or so I thought! So much for stopping while you`re ahead!!! ![]() Oh hell, I`d probably go see them again just for nostalgia!

Re: Orbital reform - Tour 2009
Not very good. I've been told that there is very little interest from promoters here in the US to get Orbital to play live here. It really sucks cuz even before they broke up, they didn't get much respect in the US and weren't very popular, except back in 96-99 when "electronica" was the next BIG thing. Going to try to drop the word to the Ultra Music Festival promoters, maybe get them to play in 2010.

Re: Orbital reform - Tour 2009
I'm alright with this new best-of, "2Orbital". I mean, 5 years away is a long time, and although this is by no means indispensible or even that interesting a comp. for fans, it does serve as a "remind"er
for those with a passing interest in the group."Work 1989-2002" suggered from lousy radio edits, but did include Frenetic, which is one of my faves, even from its Kinetic roots. The "halcyon" compilation a few years ago was a totally random, unofficial release, and had a prety poor tracklist. With this new collection, sure there's a bunch of repeats from Work, but hey, gotta include those hits. There are a few rarer tracks to maybe attract new fans, and remixes to attract completists. Is it desperation? I dunno...maybe the brothers Hartnoll need some cash and that's why they're expanding their reunion tour and releasing this. I'd like to think it's building momentun for something new and inspired. By the by, how many New Order "best-of"s are there? At least 4. And the Chemical Brothers released "1993-2003" and 5 yrs later added "Brotherhood". Sometimes these are at the record company's command, or a slick way to fulfill contractual requirements.
