Triptych Festival 2006

I was at the Triptych launch party last night in Glasgow where the lineup was unveiled and am utterly blown away by the quality of it this year. For anyone who doesn't remember me discussing Triptych in the past it's one of those great festivals where you spend your entire day rushing about the city from venue to venue catching gigs, workshops and discussions before hitting one of the headline gigs at night and then one of the club nights. All this over five days, across three cities.

Highlights so far are Aphex Twin's live appearance at the Barrowlands and Coldcut's gig on the opening night plus opportunities to see the Balanescu Quartet (haunting string cover of Das Model by Kraftwerk), Max Richter, Jackson & His Computer Band, Billy Woods, Battles, Biz Markie, Gravenhurst, Radio Clit, Mogwai, Silver Jews and of course Optimo on the Sunday night which is the festival closing party, featuring A Certain Ratio live. Check it out if you're anywhere near Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen - it's a really special annual event.
