Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
I just saw this for the first time today.
And then I rewatched about half of it. And then I just started it from the beginning and watched it over. I looooooooooooove. (Can't bring this up, without mentioning one thing about it that irks me. Oshii's version of Section 9 is quite a bit different from the TV show's. There is an element of distrust...the Major and Batou talk about leaving Section 9 in the first film, when they're on the boat. Later, Motoko is worried about Aramaki using the Puppet Master as a negotiating offering. I don't quite like this version of things. I prefer the TV version, in which they're a close-nit bunch. It's neat watching them function at the high level that they do. Oshii's version, while wonderful, I think misses out in this respect. With regards to the manga, I think the TV version is closer to the original. It's bizarre having these characters float about, and having these subtley conflicting versions of them. Anyway, yeah, Oshii's version ---> more noir. Not a bad thing.)
