Nice RA article here on the development of the dubstep scene.

Re: Dubstep 101
thanks BB. good article, though i'm getting sick of every single publication feeling like they have to do a dubstep history/primer thing like they're the only source people have. RA do great reviews and podcasts and frankly don't need to be sucking the exhaust of dubstep this late in the game. can you name a single dubstep RA podcast? me neither. they're johnny come latelys to the scene and their primer, while good, is out of place on that site. telling us about Digweed's new hairstyle or who moved to Berlin this week is what they do best.

Re: Dubstep 101
the term "dubstep" was actually coined in an issue of XLR8R magazine, back when Horsepower Productions had just come out with their album. i remember reading it after picking up the album at Satellite. i was there, in 1999!

Re: Dubstep 101
my first knowledge of dubstep was around 2002/2003 and came packaged with grime/sublow etc. i'm not saying i was there, but i am saying that every single mag/blog/etc. doesn't need to do the pandering Dubstep Primer/101 thing. it's been done 100 times before, just point to google and say "figure it out bitches".

the RA article is good. i'm not dissing it as such, but the proliferation of dubstep primers saturating the place.
