The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Yet another shitty album released this year from a past favorite group of mine.
Can't believed they went a whole other direction on this one and strayed away from their whole funky, downtempo jazz-thing that they had goin on. What a bummer.

Different direction - Yes
Shitty album - No way! The direction was definitely a surprise for me, but a pleasant one I have to say. I've had this on repeat since I got it a couple of weeks ago. |

Re: The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
not only is the album shitty but they've also put the 12 tracks on 99 track markers which means you can't rip this and put it on your iPod. fucking waste of time and money. avoid at all costs.

Its a definate step away but still good listen, gonna take a while to get in to. Kind of like Four Tets last one. They can't still rock it live though, saw them on the 4th May and it was awesome.
I got some lovely art prints off all the photos in the sleeve artwork.

Re: The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
my copy is a promo copy and it actually states on the sticker that notes the 99 track system. i'm not sure the regular copies are the same as the promos but it was the first cd i've ever seen that had each track split into about 10 different marks.

Re: The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Maybe I'm listening to a different album? It seems just as Cinematically Orchestrative as their previous work to me. Sure it's not exactly the same but I think they just call that growth. The first track sets a different tone but it pretty quickly gets just as jazzy and downtempo-y as ever. I'd call As the Stars Fall quintessential CO!? And Breathe is exceptional.
Not sure what's so different. It's a great album to my ears.
