Mike Patton and Massive Attack?
The Peeping Tom article on Ipecac's website says that the album was delayed for numerous reasons, and then it proceeds to list some of them. One of these was "a guest spot on a Massive Attack record." Did this turn up anywhere? Or are they mixed up, and referring to the track that wound up on the Peeping Tom record? Anyone? Buehler?

Re: Mike Patton and Massive Attack?
You lie. I haven't heard it myself, but I imagine I'll feel differently. Mike Patton was our hero in highschool. I don't buy all his releases any more, but I doubt I'll think any thing he does is crap. Yes, I'm hugely biased. I'm okay with that.

Re: Mike Patton and Massive Attack?
well - I don't know if he's going to be on the new MA album or not...
but I just downloaded the Peeping Tom track 'featuring Massive Attack' and well... honestly - I don't think I've heard a Mike Patton solo track before (he was a member of another band... right?) but this song "Kill the Dj" basically sounds like a singer from an 80's hair band trying to sound like 3D and the music itself - well... you hear some usual MA vibes and whatnot - but there's just simply something that doesn't sit right. Like if someone went back over the MA stuff, and tweaked it or something... or it's just (again) someone trying to sound like MA without actually getting it quite right I just wouldn't be surprised if whatever I downloaded really didn't have anything to do with Massive Attack |

Re: Mike Patton and Massive Attack?
Mike Patton was the singer for Faith No More, most prominently, and also Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Dillinger Escape Plan (for an EP), Lovage, General Patton vs the X-ecutioners (or however they spell that), a couple of John Zorn projects and a couple of solo records. Oh, and Tomohawk.
He's a little eccentric, in a bloody good way. On his first album with Faith No More, they covered Black Sabbath's War Pigs. When people started going to see them to hear that song, they switched their nightly cover song to Lionel Ritchie's Easy, to piss people off. He's done some brilliant stuff over his long career - Mr Bungle's California being one of his best records. Try downloading the song "None of Them Knew They Were Robots". Anyway, he's a big fan of lounge singers and people like Burt Bacharach (sp?), so sounding like an 80s hair band is no surprise. However, you can't quite take things at face value with him. I believe he got insulted when someone claimed he was doing these things with a sense of irony, because he sincerely likes the things he's emulating, but there definitely seems to be an element of irony whether he'd like to admit it or not. Faith No More also did a cover of the Bee Gees' I Started a Joke that makes me laugh every time I hear it because his vocal performance is so over the top it's awesome. Blah blah blah ---> me.

The Peeping Tom album is wack. I fear Patton might RUIN the new Massive Attack record but...oh well.

Re: Mike Patton and Massive Attack?
Fuck that. Mojo, the first single, kicks all types of ass. You guys are talking shit.
http://www.myspace.com/peepingtomispatton *Please note, that's the only song I've heard off the album. I could, in fact, be the one talking shit. However, if that song is any indication, I can see a) how you guys might find that cheesy and b) how you're totally wrong.
