...following Stimpee's recommendation
I had posted two mixes on that long thread (above) - but to get more exposure... (so I just copy + pasted my two previous posts)

ok - so I wanted to try and do something a bit more 'different' than what my sets have been recently... which I just realized that I haven't posted here (I'll upload the other two mixes later - which on the UNKLE forum, have actually gotten some good reviews)

so yea - I made a three cd set as a christmas gift for some of my friends, and the other two discs weren't necessarily straight 'dance' mixes - like they could just as easily be 'headphones' mixes as driving / going out stuff

and as it's for a present, I want to make sure this cd sounds tight - so any recommendations on what I need to fix, let me know... I'm not sure if everything blends very well next to each other... and I"ll probably end up re-doing this mix anyways

here's the tracklisting:
(intro) + Comtron - Evil OS[tm]
Serge Santiago - Answer to 8am (Demo)
Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five - The Message (pt. 2)
Timo Maas - First Day (extended mix)
Sharam Jey - Push Your Body - John Dahlback Remix
David Gilmour Girls - Crackhousewarmingparty
Adam Freeland - Heel n' Toe (Evil Nine Remix)
Liquid Liquid - Flextone (DJ Twitch Optimo Edit)
Lee Coombs, Grant Plant - Black Elk Speaks (Dub Mix)
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc (Stanton Warriors Mix)
Tomas Andersson - Washing Up (Tiga Mix)
PFN - Make a Move
Kraftwerk - Tour de France (Kervorkian Mix)
the Egg - Wall (Atomic Hooligan Mix)

change the "XX" to "tt"

-> then here's the second disc of the set - the one which I mentioned seem to get good reviews (at least on the UNKLE forum)

Re: ...following Stimpee's recommendation
*bump-ish*

ok - I've gotten some positve remarks about the second mix (the one w/ lots of tracks in it)

and I wanted to know - what about it is good? Like the varying styles of tracks, or the little bits of... I guess they're almost 'interludes' (like where it gets a bit ambient), the dialogue samples, or just the track selection in itself?

Re: ...following Stimpee's recommendation
I havent listened to the second one yet but ive listened to the first one a few times and i like it. the middle bit of:
Sharam Jey - Push Your Body - John Dahlback Remix
David Gilmour Girls - Crackhousewarmingparty
Adam Freeland - Heel n' Toe (Evil Nine Remix)
really works well. i'd better get on with the second mix...

its been refreshing. ive been listening to nothing but Underworld, be it bootlegs or the new stuff for the last 3 weeks.

EDIT:
i think its this track which doesnt work
Liquid Liquid - Flextone (DJ Twitch Optimo Edit)
more cowbell! i like the song after it tho which i think is the one before the gorillaz which also nicely works.

Re: ...following Stimpee's recommendation
yea - I might take that Liquid Liquid track out...

I think it only really works that much if it isn't mixed into - like if there is a gap before it
