The OSCARS
so... anyone watch it? I've only managed to see the results in the paper this morning, but might dowload the broadcast later.
link to the results Looks like Slumdog cleaned house and good to see Ledger got the oscar for best supporting actor. Not sure if Slumdog deserved all that it got. I mean, it was a good film no doubt, but imo it wasn't that good. I actually saw The Wrestler yesterday and was dissapointed to see Rourke didn't get best actor. I think he had a good shot at that, although I haven't seen Milk yet. btw if you haven't seen The Wrestler yet, go see it cause it's a really great film. Very moving without being sentimental, and very funny in places as well. For me, best film would have been a toss-up between The Wrestler, The Dark Knight or maybe Wall-E

Re: The OSCARS
I watched the first hour and then tuned in at the end for best picture.
Glad that "Slumdog" and Danny Boyle won - it was a great movie, but i hadn't seen the other nominations, so i also can't say if it was really the best, or it just benefitted from the good vibe story and the actors and locale involved. But after it cleaned up in the technical categories, i'm glad SM won...it would have been a shame to sweep up those awards and be locked out of the big prize. Hugh Jackman's opening number, his low-budget tribute to the best Pictures was pretty embarasing to watch. I admire his energy, but it was funny for the wrong reasons! Bummer that Peter Gabriel didn't win for best song ("Down to Earth" from Wall-E). It's certainly not nearly his best song, but it's a cute end to a really fine film, and after he dropped out of performing, since they were only giving him 65 seconds in a medley, i would have ben curious to see what he'd say on the podium. They'd probably have rushed him off

Re: The OSCARS
Haven't seen Slumdog, call it personal reasons, but after hearing Rahman the soundtrack is to me my next purchase. When I have money.
Man, that man can SING.
