94, only remember as i bunked off school with a mate, missing our mock A level history paper. paid some crusty with a fiver to climb under the fence in the hole he supposedly dug. all the weekly/monthly music mags were wanking over their performance, and we got suspended for the last week of school, which for some strange reason the headmaster thought punishment

99: saw the two best ever electronic performances in my life, UNderworld and then Orbital. I was in the back and this carnival type parade came right through the crowd with these large floats and dancers wearing body suits of glitter. I remember thinking how packed it was and how people were climbing the flag poles to see the stage. I was the greatest night of music in my life.

yeah i agree - i got mine last week and watched the DVD straight away

its really nice, although it would have been better as a coherent performance, but still its nice to have the best ofs on one disc...

although at the end of almost every track Orbital seem to shout thank you you're been great (because each track is probably the last in the set from that year!) its good to see how popular their sets at Glasto were...

buy this and watch Orbital this weekend, instead of Glasto, not sure many of the dancey acts on will be as good as Orbital were...

Compare UK online shops for this here

Seems to be The Hut and £11.72 with free delivery the cheapest which is a bargain for a 3 disc set.

For people in NL, cd-wow.nl has it delivered for €19.99 (bol.com is charging €23.99 plus post )

...that was good; but '94 was the daddy of orbital-at-glastonbury sets impact/remind was cracking; and the first-soundings of snivilisation tracks were superb!

nme stage - it was the year dance really arrived there...

the year after was their first pyramid performance, early doors (if memory serves me well) - pictures of john major's face being crossed out raising a massive cheer!

happy daze

Re: Orbital - Live At Glastonbury: 1994 - 2004 (2CD & DVD)
hmm; ok; it's a very nice thing to have in an 'i was there, thanks for the memories' type-way; and there's hairs-on-end moments (ie hearing 'warning warning nuclear attack!' for the first time) - but the sound is absolutely shocking - 3rd-rate bootleg quality. i'm pleased they're not charging too much for it, because 'everything everything' it very most certainly isn't!

but it got me thinking - while uw are pretty much exciting mates live; orbital were best at being emotional, like family...
