the thievery corporation...
'the cosmic game' - is it just me or is anybody else finding this absolutely beautiful? not sure about the flaming lips addition as it's a bit doomy (the perry farrell vocal's pretty ok); but this album goes many, nice, sunny places; but not too fast. lovin it.

yeah they've been around a while now. i can't say their sound has changed much over the years, but it's still pretty solid downtempo/chill out stuff. i got their "Versions" CD the other day, which is pretty cool too (a compilation of TC remixes)

ya know...

t's a pretty great effort. absolutely no departure from their mode, but a beautiful and perfected iteration so I'm really not tired of them. But I also think the darker reaches they've made is only a good thing. just my two centimes

Re: the theivery corporation...
every year as soon as the sun gets its hat on i always dig out my thievery corporation cds - perfect musical accompaniment to an afternoons lazing in the garden

the first two cds are probably my favourites but they're all good

and be sure to check out the track dc3000 which appeared on one of their early eps - it's awesome

theivery corporation...
for me, one of the most overrated acts out there. 'richest man...' was stellar. 'mirror conspiracy was pretty good.

but since then? oh my god. please do something NEW it all sounds like ctrl-v ctrl-c

Re: the theivery corporation...
for the the albumns have gone real slowly down-hill. i loved the first one, the second just as much except i heard it second, and the 3rd was richest man and then cosmic game and richest man both sound too similar like they are trying to be them, which obviously isn't bad for me it just doesn't do ti as well...

also the second two albumns seem a bit too long, a case of if they thinned out the shite a bit more then they'd have two more 9/10 albumns

I knew there was something I've missed while passing the record shop, hmmmm they close 9PM here, errr, been drinking. Tomorrow.

Just goes to show how busy I've been the past few weeks.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: the theivery corporation...
they're a new one to me, so i can't take part in the discussion of how they have or haven't moved on (but they've bang-on for my set!)

but 'satyam shivam sundaram' has gone RIGHT up there as one of the most hauntingly beautiful tracks i own

Re: the thievery corporation...
I like Thievery Corporation quite a bit, but yeah, it's a bit too much of the same over and over again. Although, I have to say that I personally love Revolution Solution....the Perry Ferrell track.

If you want something that's in the same vein but maybe a bit more inventive, I'd highly recommend checking out "Mellowdramatic" by A Forest Mighty Black.
