essential dj sets 1992-1998
i've been having a big renaissance (if you pardon the pun) in my listening tastes lately and revisiting lots of dance music from the early and mid nineties. the sahsa & digweed 1994 renaissance mix collection 3cd set has always been one of my favourite dj mixes along with paul van dyk's superb X-Mix 1 cd from 1993 (from before trance was a dirty word)
however i've only recently discovered digweed's rather good renaissance mix collection volume 2 from 1995 and some of his essential mixes from the same period (especailly the 1994 and 1995 ones) so i was wondering if anyone else (especially some of the older dirts) can recommend any other fantastic mixes from that period that i may have missed - i'm particularly into that early progressive house/trance sound as exemplified by the early guerilla and jackpot releases cheers matt |

Re: essential dj sets 1992-1998
Brit Hop & Amyl House (1996) - This is the very first DJ mix CD I ever heard, and totally blew my mind. Has a permanent place on my iPod.
The Tunnel Mixes (1996) - Discovered this and acid in the same summer. An absolutely life-changing experience I still get goosebumps today when the track 'Dreams' kicks in.Perfecto Fluoro (1997) - Oakenfold before he went shit. Mixes between '97 style psy-trance and movie soundtracks. Have still never heard anything like it. Last edited by GoatSucker; 05-12-2007 at 03:09 AM. |

Re: essential dj sets 1992-1998
True Progressive House ceased to be progressive after 1994...anything released after that date is not essential.... imo
there may well be some decent tracks / mixes out there, but the best of that era are from 1991-1994 in terms of trance anything on platipus up to 1995 is great... go to beatport or otehr dj sites and just download anything on limbo... they were the prog house masters imo
