Underworld Live Moment #1
[Cut out and keep]

WEB LINK (With LQ audio sample)

Hiya,

One of my top 5 Underworld live moments comes from 2000 - The Pukelpop festival in Belgium.

This was a gig performed with just Rick / Karl, and the quality of sound . mix from this year's performances was, in my opinion, one of the best (with lots of reprisals of songs not played for ages - such as Dirty Epic, Spoonman, Born Slippy (Original), Banstyle etc..)...

The highlight of this particular gig has to be the mix between Push and the Leave Home / Cappe Ffuno jam.

Some track name debates pre-answered:

Its not Spikee!

Yeah i know, well i just put that in there cos of the Spikee sample.

Rope?

Bit of rope for web / 010101. It must be called Rope, cos it was a bit of 'Rope' for the web. I don't think it was meant to be the literal track name. SWFABNFI

Some FAQs for non-trainspotters:

Cappe Ffuno?

An unreleased track from the Beacoup Fish era (1998 - 2000) - we heard it first from the 'Blue Mountain' gig released on underworldlive.com

Leave Home?

A Chemical Brothers track remixed by Underworld - our boys played it live alot in 1995.

Banstyle Please!

Nah, get lost .

Mike

Gigography coming. (back).

Re: Underworld Live Moment #1
Superb - thanks for this Mike!

My #1 best Underworld Live moment was at Cocoon in Frankfurt, last year.

I was lucky to be with around 15 or so other Dirts, which was fantastic in itself, and was dancing away all evening in front of the stage. There was this little step to the left side of the stage which was right on top of where one of the cameramen was crouching and for some reason, after about 2 or more hourse of gig, I suddenly decided I would go up there to dance for a while.

Just moments later they struck up with Pearls Girl, which is my all-time fave UW choon. I was euphoric. Awesome, awesome moment for me.
"A-amnesia....A-amnesia....A-amnesia...(dubudubudubudubudubudubudubudubudubudub udubudubudubudubudubudubu)"

My #2 best moment was at Luxemburg the year before. I had been seconded to do the *cough* recording *cough* cos i was able to hide the mic down the... er... front of my top so it wouldn't be noticed (working on the principle that no security guard would dare stare at my cleavage for long enough to spot it in case he risked a slap).

I was very careful all evening not to sing, shout or talk loudly so that there would be no interference with it. Then two wonderful Dirts came up towards the end and did this...

It was edited out of the final cut. But if you listen very closely you can hear me say "idiots" under my breath

My #3 moment was at HMH in July 2005 when a fellow female Dirt grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to the front (even though I am about a foot taller than her) so I could be closer to the action. Lovely moment.

I find it hard to pick certain moments out of gigs because I enjoy the whole gig, like Que Club Birmingham 1996 or Phoenix Festival 1995 gigs, but hearing Born Slippy Original Version at Luxembourg in 2005 was tingles down the spine time.
