ok - so maybe it's just me... but for the past several weeks... if not months - I've just kinda been 'eh' about the whole breaks scene. Not only are there no new Freeland or Evil Nine tracks, but the ones that have gotten a proper release have either been out on promo's for AGES ("Towards the Sun" for example) or have been rehashes of previous tracks (Freeland Autolux remix / Freeland Doors remix)

and as far as stuff by other people... again, it just seems like endless rehashes of the same beats, but with new samples over them (Shadow's Fly on the Motorway / Smack My Boot Up / Bootyshade... and especially so for EVERYTHING by the Stanton Warriors. [as a side note: one of my friends the other day told me "not this song again" when I was playing their track "Blue" b/c she thought it was their remix of "Gyromancer" then, when I made her guess again - she thought it was just an instrumental of their remix of "Feel Good Inc" as they share the same beats and bass])

But I didn't even really notice any of that until back in December, when I decided to make another new mix as an Xmas present for some of my friends [I stopped doing it to focus on my bitch-ass finals and my digital portfolio] with some nice new artwork... but the mix didn't get done until last night, b/c I've been fuckoff busy since... well Dec 20th and haven't had a solid, uninterrupted 2hrs until last night!


long story short - below is a link to a new mix I did. I'd say it's more of a Kitsune Maison / Digitalism etc etc kind of vibe than anything

so yea - don't expect much breaks stuff... but I think it's still a pretty decent mix (although - I'm worried it's a bit rough in places) -> let me know what you think b/c I might end up re-doing it anyways

oh, and the tracks are separated this time, instead of one big file. I did this b/c the new "Gapless Album" feature on iTunes - which also works when you listen to stuff on your iPod. I HATED that little gap between tracks when I'd listen to stuff on my iPod

...also this mix is pretty heavy on - well NOISE -> so be forwarned

i'm with you that the breaks scene has been for me pretty "blah" for at least the last 9 months... This time last year, i was so into breakbeat, but then, i was just discovering artists and tracks that were around for months if not years before.
