trail of dead - so divided
neat...

for those of us who fell head over for source tags and codes, So Divided shows similar stretches of ambition and passion. love this album. glad to see these guys pull out of the snubs and indifference to still play it out.

Loved ST&C but man that last interview with Conrad Keely for Pitchfork made him sound as if he doesnt even care about what he is doing anymore. It was very honest and depressing. After reading that I didnt even bother to check this album.

Re: trail of dead - so divided
you mean this interview?

To me the album's existence is kind of proof that they care quite a bit. NOt just because they were just about to throw in the towel and would only produce another ep. But also from their previous efforst. I mean you have to give a damn about your music to get that disappointed and bitter. I think they felt it should have been them to lead the army of assymetrical haircuts and myspace poets of the emo scene, not the candy punk/goth bands that eventually took over. To which I can sympathize.

I'd say their sound is too sincere to be that accessible in today's cultural climate and nothing would make someone more bitter than to fail for your strenghts, not for your weaknesses

(worlds apart is plain underwhelming though, imho)

Quite honestly if you make music to be recognized you are only bound to be dissapointed. Many more artists more talented than Trail of Dead have been totally ignored just to be proclaimed geniuses decades after. He comes off as a little whiny bitch in that interview and apathetic as well. Who knows maybe all this frustration is acreative force for them, I have a long list of albums to check out before I get to this though.

Re: trail of dead - so divided
however long it takes you to give it a spin i suggest you wait to hear it before judging how acreative is conrad's attitude. just a general rule of thumb but a more fine point to this album because the whole reason I dig it is because it stands out in honesty and ambition, just like a good trail of dead album should.

edit:

wait did you mean a_creative force? anyway i can see your point but you should spin it before chalking them up to being whiney bitches.
