Robotech
Okay, so, this:

http://www.robotech.com/store/viewproduct.php?id=239

is $117.00 new through Amazon. That seems like a pretty good deal...but I haven't actually seen the second or third series. Can anyone let me know if they think this set is worth it? (It isn't even two bucks an episode...)

My friend has it. I watched it.

It is very very very highly recommended if you are a Robotech fan.

Re: Robotech
Well, I guess my concern is, how has it aged? I mean, I loved the first series, but I can barely remember it, and I'm not sure if it's actually, like, a decent show if you like anime, or if its value is more nostalgia-related? Cuz I don't really want to invest the time if it's just a nostalgia thing, but, for instance, GITS: SAC is my favorite TV show of all time...But the thing is, GITS: SAC has incredible writing. I know Robotech was above the standards of contemporary American cartoons, but that's not really saying a lot.

Re: Robotech
There's no doubt that "The Macross Saga" was the best of the 3 series - from a character and storyline standpoint. The second series "Robotech Masters" was a little more in depth as far as Robotechnology goes. The characters weren't really memorable, the Hovertanks rocked, but that was about it. As for the 3rd installment, "The Next Generation", the characters are a little more memorable, but the story line lacked a little - great battlescenes and artwork for the anime fan. To me, the collection would be purely for the nostalgic factor or for the Robotech collector. But this is just my opinion. I'd spend the money on one of the collectors series Alpha Fighters or Veritechs. I personally have the Skull Leader and Max Sterling Valkyrie. Next on my list is the Red Alpha.

Re: Robotech
I have a fully transformable green Alpha from when I was growing up, and a transformable Cyclone w/ 12" rider. Wish I'd never played with them because their a little worn, but so glad I have them.
Haven't watched Robotech in oh so long...
