Re: Second Toughest In The Infants Survivor Final Round
This just isn't fair. These two songs are among the best songs ever recorded. One you want to listen to when you have energy and you want to go crazy, the other you want to listen to when you want the smoothest groove ever conceived. Since I am more often in the "go crazy" state of mind, I had to vote in favor of J/K/TDOL. It's just mind blowing.

I think we discovered that either: 1. the track actually goes Juanita / To Dream of Love / Kiteless or 2. the track starts with the car colours or 3. To Dream of Love isn't a track at all, but if you listen carefully you can hear a 'to dream of love' vocal sample later in the track.... This bears no relevance to the debate, but it just triggered the memory. ![]() Mike |

I picked Juanita. The last 3 and a half minutes of Sappy's Curry is one of uw's greatest moments ever recorded.

Re: Second Toughest In The Infants Survivor Final Round
Yeah, I picked "Juanita." See, I think that the first part of "Juanita / Kiteless / To Dream Of Love," up to the six minute mark, is brilliant. The way it builds up, the guitar sound, Karl's vocals...pure bliss. So, to this very day, I still can't get over how it just stops abruptly and goes into "Kiteless," then meanders for like six more minutes before concluding with "To Dream Of Love." In my opinion, the live version on Everything, Everything has the better arrangement (although the quality of the vocals in the first part leaves much to be desired), with "Juanita" first, then "To Dream Of Love" with the "Juanita" music, and only a little bit of "Kiteless."
But "Banstyle / Sappys Curry," on the other hand, is absolutely perfect for all fifteen minutes. It develops so unpredictably. And I have never heard any other band make any sound like the guitar in the second half, ever. It's absolutely unique. The production has such a sensuous, melancholy quality to it. So, for me, "Banstyle" wins. |
