My Interview W/Karl Hyde
just wanted too share this- there isn't much new info for the hardcore UW fan, but it's just a straight out conversation that had some memorable moments. Yan, i totally stole your idea of beginning and ending the piece with quoted lyrics (i believe that came from an update you sent out last year).

hope you all enjoy

I've been listening to The Necks - Drive By for a few weeks now. Late to the party but it's a wonderful hour-long piece of music. Really interested to hear how Karl fit into the mix with them and Eno.

Nice interview. Newer photo would've been nice.

Re: My Interview W/Karl Hyde
thanks for the good vibes boys. i'm really hoping i can get a few decent photos from this weekends gig as well.

i recently picked some jon hopkins material, which my grilfriend has been enjoying immensely, as well as myself. wasn't sure what to expect from the necks, but the leads seem promising.

i was at the art jam too, did you happen to get there before the actual party started?

hi chris, yes i was there on the last day,
i got there early in the morning, and hung out all day
taking notes, checking out stuff, until they started
getting ready for the party..

i left for awhile, and came back that later that evening,
and got a chance to talk to a lot of the tomato crew!
and of course rick and karl.. it was an amazing event..

i'm sorry i was in my (usual) anti-social mood though,
i'm not much of talker at these events, unless someone
talks to me..

i was the indian guy, wearing all black (jacket/jeans/etc)..

be seeing you

Thanks for that interview, man. It was amazing to read that Underworld thought that '98 Los Angeles show at the Mayan was as special as I did. I was there by myself, just moved to the city, really, but I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best nights of my life. I feel great to have been part of something so important to the band, and I wouldn't have known if you hadn't done that interview.

I used to have a recording of that show, but I lost it many hard drives ago. Wonder if it is better to let it live in my memory?

hmmm... my girl and i showed up around 3ish (literally checked in our hotel and booked it to the gallery) and caught karl and john in the middle of a spin magazine interview i believe. man it was such a treat to catch the whole moment of the art jam in a candid, casual setting. but what the crap, where were you hiding? there were several other UW junkies hanging around the space too. maybe we just missed you by a fraction.

did karl happen to read one of your shoutouts about that day during one of the broadcasts? something about being "a naughty little monkey".

dude! i happened to snag that off RTSR almost 5 years ago (should still be in the archive if you search). the recording is fair, but whats most note worthy is the energry of the crowd, the response is massively undisputed and raw. karl even notes the obeservation near the end of the gig, and is pretty grateful for the support. that show defintely had something special, you're lucky to have been there

BTW... if anyone is in the southern california or wil be during september 20th, brian eno will be ranting about stuff in long beach http://www.carpenterarts.org/0910eno.html
