Apple Music 24-bit/96 kHz Hi-Res lossless
Anyone have the equipment (DAC, pre-amp, decent headphones, etc) to test out the hi-res lossless? Looks like Dubno, STITI, and BF are all 24/96. The rest are lossless but not hi-res. Curious if you can tell/how it sounds.

Re: Apple Music 24-bit/96 kHz Hi-Res lossless
That is very interesting. It looks like the only way to get higher than 48 KHz output on Apple Music is to use an external DAC with either a Mac or iPhone/iPad. So, maybe I'll be buying one.
STITI and BF were only released in 16/44 and 24/44, respectively. I wonder if they've been upsampled for Apple Music? |

Re: Apple Music 24-bit/96 kHz Hi-Res lossless
So, I got an external DAC, and an Apple Music trial, and sure enough as you said, there is a bunch of stuff available in hi-res that has not been otherwise released. Here's what I've found so far:
Dubno Super Deluxe Box Set (Discs 2-5) - 24/96 (previously only the main album had been released in 24/96) STITI Super Deluxe Box Set - 24/96 (previously only released in 16/44) Beaucoup Fish Super Deluxe Box Set - 24/96 (previously only released in 24/44) Ova Nova single - 24/44 (previously only released in 16/44) I Exhale single - 24/44 (previously only released in 16/44) I also found a couple weird things like Drift Series 1 and Drift Series 1 Sampler Edition are only available in 24/44 on Apple Music, even though they were offered as 24/48 everywhere else. It's not clear yet if the stuff above is all just upsampled. I'm working on recording it, so maybe that can be determined. Also, this is only the selection of stuff found on US Apple Music. Because of the different labels and distribution over the years, there might be more stuff available on EU, UK, or JP Apple Music. |
