the darjeeling limited - a wes anderson film
The trailer just came out for this film today. I hope this is less Aquatic and more Tenenbaums/Rushmore/Bottle Rocket.

The Life Aquatic is probably my favorite all time movie. I think it perfectly sums up everything about my brain.

There are things I really enjoy Aquatic, but I just couldn't get behind it fully. I gave it three tries in the cinema and bought the DVD to keep the collection full of all the Anderson films thus far. Just felt like treading wat

When I first saw it, I thought it was mildly disappointing. I felt Steve was dislikable enough for it to be an obstacle to my enjoyment.

However, I love it more and more every time I watch it. Once I wasn't fighting my expectations, I found it pretty much perfect. The dialogue is incredible. (Intern: This is BULLSHIT!) (Steve: Do the interns get glocks? Topless girl: They share one.)

Re: the darjeeling limited - a wes anderson film
I had high hopes for it and usually try a great deal to temper those hopes prior to seeing a film, but with the Life Aquatic and repeat viewings I've found more that I like, but it just doesn't coalesce in the same way that Tenenbaums and Rushmore did so beautifully. At times it also felt just 'too fucking too', like weird for the sake of being weird, or this kind of hodgepodge, piecemeal of ideas that were just thrown up on screen with very little thought or consideration other, they're cool.

There are wonderful bits of dialog throughout, like when Steve first talks to Ned and he has to go smoke a joint and returns stating simply, 'Sorry about that. You caught me with one foot off the merry-go-round tonight.'

Re: the darjeeling limited - a wes anderson film
i didn't really care for 'hotel chevalier' even if it was free..
not much really happened that was interesting..(besides
natalie portmans *ahem* acting)..

i guess there's only so much you can do in 12 minutes.

but if its supposed to set up the movie, then we'll see
once the movie comes out...which i'm definitely interested
in seeing..

Re: the darjeeling limited - a wes anderson film
mm hotel chavalier is blah!!..
really the only thing worth it is the bum of Natalie Portman.
i felt that it was a 12 min ipod commercial..

BUT.

Darjeeling is amazing!! i saw it twice already .. and i love it love it.
i love that Wes Anderson makes movies like if they were pop up books butmore dramatic. Is so dreamy. I love his bullshit spirituality trip to India full of emotion

Owen Wilson is brilliant. Jason Shwartz the cutest thing and Adrien Brody genius. I can't tell enough how much i luvvv Darjeeling I could see it over and over. Is so beautiful and hillarius and soo freaking high!

AS i said.. i drink campari because of Steve Zizou.. i hope i don't get into Nyquil because of this movie. ji!!

oh yeah.. soundtrack is incredible. Special mention to rolling stones!!!

Hotel Chavalier has nothing to do with the Darjeeling... just the suitcases.
is all about download it from itunes and see the ipod in the hotel room..omg product placement hardcore, no shame apple and anderson!!!!

Leave the sun behind me, and watch the clouds as they sadly pass me by

Re: the darjeeling limited - a wes anderson film
I think the filmmaker Wes Anderson may need to take a vacation from himself and hopefully return to a weird state of reality or something and attempt to forge a new approach to stories. It seems now, more than ever he's begun to devolve into a state of repetition beginning with The Life Aquatic and now the Darjeeling Limited.

It seems he could go on and on making the same film over and over again, stylistically and story wise.
