Jon Stewart - American Badass
I had to add to the string of "badass" threads with this. But seriously, The Daily Show is the only place that's bothering to call McCain on his lies, and Palin on her absolute lack of qualifications.
So specifically, last night's Daily Show gave Palin a huge uppercut.

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
There's also Countdown with Keith Olbermann and now the Rachel Maddow show who both come out and call McCain on his lies. But yeah, The Daily Show (and the Colbert Report) does it the best.

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
We love Jon Stewart here too, although we don't get the full show, but just a weekly round-up of highlights, which is a bit of a bummer.
Good article in The Independent in August. Totally plagiarised by The Observer last Sunday too

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
It's about time that Stewart becomes the new Letterman, i.e. having more famous guests. The lack of famous/interesting guests makes the Daily Show pretty boring sometimes. Nevertheless, Stewart is a smart and very funny host, doing one of the best tv-shows around. Especially in political topics, he shows his strength.
I'd almost say: 'Stewart for president!'

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
btw. watching some of the recent DS episodes it seemed to me that it would be agood idea to just run some of those montages they do about McCain and Palin as Democrat Party tv ads. I particularly enjoyed the McCain and Bush acceptance speeches edited together to show the word for word similarities

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
I managed to get around that by typing a few extra things in the URL.... it worked, but that was a fortnight ago, and I've completely forgotten how I did it now!
Will have a play around when I get a moment and post it here...

Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
Anyone catch Tony Blair on the show?
His episode currently on the homepage... http://www.thedailyshow.com (Doin' his Hugh Grant routine for the yanks. Umm, Tony, you're like 14 years too late.... ![]() )Fair play to Stewart - incisive questioning, amusing but not over-the-top... polite but not sycophantic. Our country's interviewers and TV hosts could learn a lot from him. |
