so maybe you saw Dukes of Hazzard and want more hillbilly car chases or maybe you didn't see Dukes of Hazzard but like car chase movies anyway.... looking for a movie to rent, like the seventies, pretty much any reason... if you have not seen it, i am officially recommending:

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry

This is a really great fun car chase movie starring Peter Fonda. And when I say it's a car chase movie, I mean it. there's maybe 7 minutes of story in the beginning followed immediately by about 80 minutes of hot american midwest car chasing action. What's better is that since it's a low-budget movie made in the seventies, actual people in actual cars were used in the stunts. No trick photography, no CG, no specially-rigged buses jumping unfinished sections of highway. Everything in this movie was actually done.

You need more? Well there's a really great performance by crusty sheriff Vic Morrow including some awesome shots of him in the helicopter/car chase sequence toward the end. That helicopter pilot gets pretty crazy too by the way.

Just disregard Fonda's limitations as an actor and Susan George's dismal performance and you'll be thoroughly entertained. If you're a boy. Girls are not guaranteed unless you like car chases more than Jane Austen.

All in all it's a great flick from the 70s that did very well back in the day but hasn't gotten a lot of love lately by this generation. That's a shame too because this movie rocks out with its... axle rod out.

Almost rented this one tonight at the video store but settled on Code 46 instead. Maybe in a few days when I return Code 46.
