Re: the Prodigy - First Warning
It's a new track for "Smokin' Aces" but they are working on a new album due out sooner or later. This sounds just like the tracks from Always Outnumbered but with a balls to the wall attitude that was missing from most of that album. More of a 'nineties Prodigy' sound does indeed sum it up about right.

It does have a menace about it, a la most of Fat of the Land and a few cuts on Jilted Generation. Whereas AONO was just full-speed but by-the-numbers, now we have some real aggro! I can hear Keith Flint wailing over this already!

Re: the Prodigy - First Warning
Hey this is a very welcome track from The Prodigy. I didn't care for "Always Outnumbered..." as much as their earlier work but this has a bit of frantic psychoticness that I've always liked about their sound.
Thanks for sharing! |

Re: the Prodigy - First Warning
I agree - AONO was a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the previous albums. Still, will dwl this and give it a whirl. Comments later

Re: the Prodigy - First Warning
i think i knew what we were in for when the third track leaked from AONO, so i had adjusted accordingly and got what i expected, even though i was pleasantly surprised by some tracks like "action radar".
so i actually kinda liked AONO, i wasnt expecting 7 years worth of work, because i knew they essentially went from scratch after the abysmal "babys got a temper", and had about 7 songs on pretty regular play for awhile. this ones nice. super disposable fun on repeat for a little while throughout the day, and glad to hear that it's for a movie, which is great for that. i'm already imagining a hilarious music video for it, tho. |

I'm actually MASSIVELY dissappointed that this is missing Keith's vocals, as it works a lot better as a 'proper' song, and it had one of my favorite chorus' in a looong time "I'm not a punk, I'm just a cunt, You talkin' to me? Well I'm probably drunk!" I really - absolutely do not understand why it was released w/o vocals if you want - I can post a high quality (either a tv or a radio broadcast I think) copy of the track done live for the Pukkelpop festival also - was this ripped off of a internet stream or something? Some of the drums sound pretty tinny and about AONO - I will give them it had its strong points (Girls, Action Radar, Spitfire, Shoot Down) but other than those tracks, I thought it kinda fell flat. Especially after Liam himself boasting about how good the album would be... and the absence of ""Trigger" and "Nuclear" which Liam said was definitely going to be a single [nuclear - that is]. I'd also say that the "Passenger" mix of "Hotride" really should've replaced the album version [unless it wasn't made until after AONO's release] Last edited by joethelion; 01-13-2007 at 07:58 PM. |
