Re: some sloppy mixes!
i will have to check out the d-n-b mix...it's hard to dance to and darn hard to mix up! Maybe my 4-4 sense of rhythm can't handle it!

Re: some sloppy mixes!
"Departing Ways" is quite good, but i'm not enough into drum n' bass/jungle to appreciate properly... but i like a lot "Travelling with...", awesome choice & mix, the end of the mix is ace (let's say from "Rising Son - uw remix"). Thanks a lot for sharing.
... and, please, can you tell me what the f**k Edwige Fenech is doing here, in the title & as a cover?!

Re: some sloppy mixes!
Just listened to "Departing Ways", and enjoyed it a lot! It could be the high BPM or the amount of housey piano and diva vocals in your trackmix, but i felt very "uplifted" by this mix! Usually when i hear D-n-B/Jungle, it's this skittery, dark stuff that makes me very nervous (e.g. Dieselboy, Squarepusher, Roni Size, Goldie kind of stuff). But this was the lighter side, and very nicely mixed, too!

Re: some sloppy mixes!
thanks for the compliments!
that dnb mix originally did not have the first 2 London Elektricity tracks. it was a shorter 47 min mix i did last march which i almost wanted to scrap entirely. since i've never done a full dnb mix before (and certainly nothing in the 170+ bpm range) this mix gave me so much headache. i couldnt mix the thing in the exact order that i originally mapped out, so i had to figure out a different track order (based on if if i would be able to mix those tracks in that order) and i had to make sure the mix still felt like it was building up. after i recorded the mix, i liked everything about it (even with the few beat "slippages") except the transition from Jellybean to Lovesick. i even named the mix Soul's Failure (cuz it was a failed attempt at soulful dnb). i think that original mix actually flowed better (with the exception of the horrid transition from Jellybean to Lovesick). so rather than throwing away the mix, i decided to just add and record tracks in between Jellybean and Lovesick (and also make the mix longer). The transition to Lovesick still sounds a bit wonky. the Traveling mix was the opposite. that probably took the shortest amount of preparation/planning and finished in one take even with the really long overlaps between tracks. |
