so a HUGE favor
ok - so here's the deal...
as some of you know - I recently got a feature in URB magazine. Up until that point I had never really dj-ed in any clubs, just small parties for my friends and I've been posting my various life mixes here for a while now. After I got the review, and spoke to some dj's in DC - I was like... shit maybe I am actually ready to play in some of the clubs here in the city. Although it's been f-ing impossible to get my foot in the door. I've even given my mixes by hand to some established performers in the hopes that maybe I could skip over the club promoters and whatnot (Evil Nine, UNKLE, Crystal Method*...) so anyways... here's the favor: I've been trying to contact the person responsible for booking people this major club in Washington, DC... although to no avail. I got the idea that maybe if a bunch of people would all write in and sortof help promote me... maybe I'll get a response. All you would need to do is: • go to http://www.buzzlife.com/contact.php • select "Amanda Huie" • and just say something to the effect of 'hey you should really give this guy a chance at your club, I've heard his breaks mixes - they're all pretty damn good and there needs to be more representation of breaks at the club and Blake Peterson(me) has a cool, unique style... oh, and probably say where you're from so I figure if a bunch of people from different parts of the world wrote in this deal... maybe I could get a chance, you know? oh and my contact email is eclipso83 at aol.com thanks in advance *and with the CM I even noticed that at least one of their tracks ("Roboslut") was.. well 'influenced' by one of my unfinished demo's that I included in a mix cd I gave them Last edited by joethelion; 04-30-2006 at 02:16 PM. |

Re: so a HUGE favor
Done and done!
Here's what i wrote (just FYI) "Dear Amanda, It came to my attention that you have the opportunity to book one Blake Peterson at your club, and I'm hoping you can make this happen! I'm familiar with Blake's mixing and production, and the ear's don't lie...he's got quite a knack for making you dance with a surprising mix of genres. As you may know, his mixing's been recently featured in URB magazine, no small honor, and it testifies to his ability to appeal to fans of many styles of dance music, especially the fledgling world of breaks. He has a fan following amongst internet mix traders, as well, and i'm sure many folks would make the trip to D.C. to hear Blake at your club! Many thanks for your time and attention! Brian" Is this the sorta thing you're looking for? Hopefully buzz will build! Best of luck! -Holden
