Broken Lovely Things...vote
based on stimpee's breakdown of the track as below from the 'break into tracks thread': http://www.dirty.org/forums/showthre...4&page=1&pp=10

i thought i'd run a little poll to vote on everyone's favourite part of the new 'downlaodable album'

PERFORMER "Underworld"
TITLE "LovelyBrokenThing"
FILE "LovelyBrokenThing.mp3" WAVE
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "JAL To Tokyo"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "Billy Goat"
INDEX 01 05:37:00
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "Peggy Sussed"
INDEX 01 11:39:00
TRACK 04 AUDIO
TITLE "Dub Shepherd"
INDEX 01 14:00:00
TRACK 05 AUDIO
TITLE "Lenny Penne"
INDEX 01 16:30:00
TRACK 06 AUDIO
TITLE "Monkey Wink"
INDEX 01 23:33:00
TRACK 07 AUDIO
TITLE "Witness"
INDEX 01 26:55:00

personally i don't like it as an album at all..only JAL To Tokyo (Bang the Poll), Peggy Sussed and Monkey Wink are what i would really want to relisten to over and over, and then i prefer the original (first heard version) of Bang the Poll, that Paul Woolford played on his essential mix....but thats just me...anyway, using the track listing as stated above i thought you guys could vote on the best track on the broken lovely thing album...as most of you will have listened to it a few times by now....

i'll maintain that "Lovely Broken Thing" works best swallowed whole...there are ups and downs, ebbs and flows, but it points to a new style of music-creation for Underworld. In the past, we've gotten the concise albums with some danceclub hits or some one-off ambient pieces as B-sides or archive exclusives. Here we get a unified snapshot of what they're capable of.

For me, the best parts are "Billy Goat", "Peggy Sussed", "JAL to Tokyo" and "Lenne Penne"...the quieter bits between make the louder bits all the more powerful, imho.

p.s. if "Monkey Wink" had some beats added, it could give "Moaner" a run for its money!

thats perhaps why i like it then, as i love moaner...i really don't care to much for the breakbeat type stuff as much as the trance anthem type stuff (thats not to say i don't listen to it, its just i prefer the anthems )

because i didnt see the point -but mostly because i was lazy- i never broke it up at all.

it's getting to the point where the only sensible ones to extract would be JAL and Peggy Sussed.

i'd vote for the latter, but then you had to put that damn "best as a whole" option up.

I don't have Broken Lovely Things but when I was at the thursday 013 gig in Holland, they dropped Peggy Sussed and it was sexy as hell!!!!! So I voted for it.

I get Witness stuck in my head a lot....it's short but so emotional.
I'm now starting to dig Monkey Wink as well because it mixes so well between the two tracks....but my fav is probably JAL to Tokyo cause it has such a nice buildup and cool beats and stuff. Fuck it, I'm leaning towards the whole thing.
