i think you could work on getting the original samples to gel better with the new productions. it sounds like two different songs happening in the same file. some sidechained compression would help you. side chain everything off the kick. sub mix the ambience down into one stereo stem, and then get a stem for non kick percussion, and then the kick. then work your sidechain. that would give it a more cohesive sound.


nice effort though. dark and long is one of those songs that is particularly difficult to overcome the existing psychological audio memory stamp.
