Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End
ok it's here. I saw it yesterday in a 9 1/2 hour marathon of all three films (breaks in every film and between films + trailers before each film added a bit to the total running time ).
Anyone else seen it yet?
I'm still kind of dazed from the whole experience so I find it hard to form an opinion right now. I think it started a bit slow but it definitely heats up later on. I think it's safe to say that it's even more ridiculous and over the top (in a good way) than the other two. The final battle was icredible and pretty much all the characters you've come to love (or hate) from the previous films get their time to shine again. And the ending still leaves a possibility of a part 4 (although the story of this trilogy is pretty much resolved).
I think it's not quite as good as the first two (and I have a hard time choosing my favourite between those), but still definitely worth checking out and ends the trilogy in the most spectacular way possible. Actually I might still change my mind about whether it's better or not. I remember I didn't really like the second one so much when I first saw it but after seeing it a couple of times and now in combination with the other two it works really well I think.

Re: Pirates of the Carribean - At World's End
i rented Pirates 2 the other day to catch up and saw the premier of "world's end" last night. Yeah, kind of overwhelming, but not necessarily enjoyable.
The new film is almost 2:45 in length, and the plot is so convoluted that between the changes in direction and the endless battle escalations, i just wanted it to end. Not that there aren't great-looking scenes and some quality pirate moments (Keith Richards' cameo is fun; some of the minor characters have clever scenes), but there's also so much cheeze and intrigue that i found this one difficult to enjoy in comparison to the previous two films.
Nonetheless, it will make a bundle.
