Wind Power
http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayof....ap/index.html
I bet if we built them a bit higher that would alleviate the noise/visual annoyance and possibly yeild more energy.(?) Jon: Buy some earplugs. It takes about 2 weeks to get used to sleeping with them. ...lately, troubled winds are blowing hard,...

Re: Wind Power
did you read the article? it's more about community and how people/families are impacted by the aggressive tactics of wind-power salesmen. they attack the generation that remembers a time when poverty was rampant, and exploit their desire to leave something valuable to the family by offering gross amounts of cash. the noise of the objects themselves was more insult to injury and a good intro to the article. learn reading comprehension.
also it's obvious that this is a news item, and not the general chatter that the noise forum is for, so stuff it, john. Last edited by dubman; 08-21-2008 at 08:15 PM. |

Re: Wind Power
I think wind velocities generally increase with altitude, but I'm no aviator. I'm not sure altitude on these wind farms would help because the air is thinner and consequently has less momentum to exploit, probably in proportion of some kind to the increase in wind velocity (aka it moves faster and faster cause there is less and less of it). Alas, less money will be harvested from more initial work and the noise-reducing solution will most likely be avoided.
