First water on Mars found

So they knew it was there somewhere, but the Phoenix Mars Lander has now actually analyzed a scoop of dirt from the surface of the planet with frozen water in it.

"We have water," said William Boynton of the University of Arizona, lead scientist for the Thermal and Evolved-Gas Analyzer, or TEGA. "We've seen evidence for this water ice before in observations by the Mars Odyssey orbiter and in disappearing chunks observed by Phoenix last month, but this is the first time Martian water has been touched and tasted."

Just read this.

It's great that they appear to have had so much more success with this Phoenix lander, given all the setbacks of previous attempts.

Nice to get it confirmed.

I could say something really graphic about the suction necessary to...HE COULD SUCK THE CHROME OFF A TRAILER HITCH!!
