Live here Now as downloads?
Hi folks,

I think for a group like Underworld it is a bit sooo 90's to sell their live gigs only on cd. I mean: for a group who released web -music for a while only on their underworldlive website. Of course this is great to pick up after the show and to have as a nice present of a good time. But why not releasing them as download as well?

And pay by track would be nice: i have so much live versions of Born Slippy / KOS or Jumbo, i do not need one more . Would love to buy the tracks I do not have...

Spending 15 pounds on a new gig is just too much money for me.
What do you think?

Well, from the Live Here Now site, it's obvious that they have the capability of doing downloads, so it must be an artist decision to do CD's only.

Now, as to why Underworld chose CD's only, we can only speculate.

Perhaps they want to continue posting some shows as free downloads? And if they do that, then it would seem kind of unfair to charge for downloads of some shows and not others. We won't know that until the Member's Archive comes back.

Maybe they want to create a nice physical package, and they don't want to compromise it by offering downloads also.

Maybe it's a way to generate additional revenue. They give us so much for free already, they have to make money at some point.

Its clearly a conscious decision to sell them as CD's. And as someone who has purchased 7 so far, they are quite awesome to hold in your hand and/or stack up. I'm glad that they aren't available as mp3's... sometimes its nice to get a surprise in the mailbox.

I wonder if once all shows are recorded they'll be releasing a full box set. I'm guessing yes and it would be cheaper too.

Well, it's not to be bitchy, Ã* think it's a great extra (which should be standaard way to have good quality live music of any concert): it's just a suggestion to make their underworldlive site more appealing and add more value to the member area.

And also waiting 3 weeks for a cd is way to long for a company with the name Live Here NOW

I COMPLETELY AGREE

seriously ... you just KNOW that if it was only available as download (and not cd) the same f_cking people would bitch that you can't get the concerts in lossless audio

or they'd go "meh - why do I have to pay .99 cents per track, when I used to get live recordings for free on uwlive"

Honestly, I'd not buy a single UW show on mp3

(now... if they were FLAC's... that'd be a different story)

and it'd be annoying to have them as mp3's b/c of the little gaps, and I (personally) wouldn't want just individual songs either - b/c of transitions between the songs are almost as important as the songs themselves!

ahahahaha.

i mean, i'm always broke. i can't keep a full-time job and be a full-time student at the same time without going nuts, but i dont think i'm going to take it out on how they choose to sell the cds.
i think the album and the album art are still valued by UW (thank god) and they wanted it to be a series more than just peicemeal cashgrabs.
to be honest the whole mp3-album option kind of annoys me and makes your little square box in the itunes to display artwork (if there is any) really pathetic.

Where's the 180 gram vinyl?

Remember that dodgy Japanese vinyl release of Bootleg Babies?
