I'm Serious
"Snuffy Jenkins: Pioneer of the Bluegrass Banjo"

This my most listened-to album of the past year.

I discovered this album at the radio station I was djing at. I instantly fell in love with it. Snuffy Jenkins was a banjo player about the mid-1900's who is credited with inspiring the Earl Scruggs style of banjo-playing. The music is fantastic. No other album gets me more pumped up than this one. I don't think anything I have rocks harder than Snuffy Jenkins. I even got all my friends hooked on it. Imagine a college spring break road trip where this was the most listened-to album (granted, we drove around the Southern U.S.) The muscianship is absolutely fantastic. The songs have more hooks than pop music wishes it could have. The lyrics are subtly hilarious and entertaining. This album got me interested a lot of things I never would have thought I'd have liked. Vocal harmonies, fiddle solos, and banjo licks have never been so awesome.

If you're going to say "HAhA! Bluegrass SUX! I only like BiG teCHno B3atz!" then fuck off. This isn't for you. But I stand by this album.

You should check out The Dillards, especially "There is a time", a best-of, which is fantastic.

Hey thanks for the rec. I listened to some samples online (I don't think this'll be popping up on Soulseek very soon) and it sounds like good stuff. I'll keep an eye out for it in the stores.
