Actually, it sounds to me like the first verse is identical, and that Karl probably just messed up the plane line.
The second verse has a lot of changes in the first half. However, I'm not entirely convinced that Karl didn't mess up that verse either. I mean, how do dust and rust have rhythms? I'll have to see if I can dig up any more ALAF recordings from that period and compare lyrics.
Edit: OK, I listened to the Brighton recording, and it was pretty much like Brixton, so the plane line changed slightly, the whole first half of the second verse changed, and it's "eyes" now instead of "lights" behind black glasses.
