Re: Vienna 14/8/05
Christ almighty, what a show, what a weekend!!
Just back home now (Ireland) after making the journey to Vienna.

Underworld were just spectacular -
To begin with, the entire stage and sound system was set-up on a barge
that floated up the river about an hour before the guys were set to come on
stage - at which point the show kicked off to the sounds of "Dark Train".

What an entrance, just picture it - the venue is set on a dockland\shipping
cargo area on the banks of the Danube (I think) all enclosed with a large
metal roof. It's around 10 and a DJ is warning the crowd up on the small main
stage (at this point it was the main stage - the only stage in sight at least).

About half a kilometer away the green lights of a barge come into sight as a
boat comes up the river.

"What's goin on here" - you might ask yourself.
Well fuck me - it's none other than our mates Rick, Karl & Darren and their
entire sound stage on it's way up the river to kick off the party.
The boat stops right opposite the main crowd and docks just feet away from
the main barriers. And where am I while all this commotion is going on?
well it just so happens that the barge docks directly infront of us.
From this point on I was completely blown away, having an absolute ball.
So as you can imagine the stage was now well and truely set for a fantastic
night. I can't remember exactly how the setlist ran but we got a good mixture
of old and new material.

I managed to get some good photographs
I'm not sure how they turned out just yet.
I'll post a link asap.

By the way -
The night before the gig in Vienna, I proposed to my girlfriend and she said "yes"
so, all in all it was the perfect weekend, never to be forgotten.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Mike, Danielle and of course Rick, Karl and Darren
for a super-sonic night.

PS - Karl or Rick, if you happen to read this post do you fancy playing at a
wedding reception in Ireland sometime in 2006??
I've left a 2 hour slot free for you guys - keep your diary free, ok!
If we work together on this one I’m sure we can change the face of
wedding receptions forever - there's only so many times you can listen to
"Sweet Caroline" and dance a waltz with your granny. Hehe

Anyway guys, thanks a million for everything - the music & the good vibes
- and for all those special moments over the years worth remembering.

Will
