Re: The Beatles - White Album
i can fully appreciate how/why the beatles are considered overrated or inaccesible by a lot of people, because i used to be the same. i dunno what did it, but now i love the beatles, the way that they all george had a different style to paul+john combo. and some of the production techniques like double tracking some of the instruments, and experimenting with reverse tape effects were practically invented by the boys.
i agree that compliling a beatles collection is ridiculously expensive, mainly because they are never in sales. one of my fave releases is "past masters vol.2" which was a collection of all of their b-sides and stuff that never got an album release in the uk. worth it for paul mcartney doing an impression of his lounge singer dad on "you know my name"
tomorrow never knows - drum loop is sampled by the chems in setting sun, and the lyrics "turn off your mind, relax and float downstream" has been used in a really warped and slowed down way as a walk-on intro for their current tour.
