Was it really "Mofo" that they were working on? i thought that's just because the track was playing in the background of the great interview where Bono and UW talk about the boys jamming and Bono riding around on a truck singing.
Maybe since "Mofo" is so "electronic", it's an easy conclusion to draw that UW would remix such a track?
Nonetheless, the project was shelved because they culdn't get beyond the point of the collaboration sounding more like UW remixes U2 or vice versa, rather than a unique hybrid. Or so they say!
