Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
More details on underworldlive.com now:

Sounds exciting:

Quote:
The ArtJam in the JacobsonHoward Gallery will be consistent with its general aims, process
and behaviour but will configure itself and respond to the unique attributes of the space,
its context (New York City) and the length of its duration (2 weeks, August 1-15). Unlike
the Makuhari this ArtJam will be a multi-media installation of video, sound, sculpture,
drawing, painting, photography and text/writing. And unlike the Makuhari it will ‘start’ with
the space already ‘in action’. From thereon the space will be in constant flux with work being
created on site, positioned, repositioned, altered, removed and then replaced and reconfigured
once more. Forages into the city to gather material will also be made, brought back to the
space and reconfigured. Our term for this process is the Joycean riverrun, with all its elastic
linguistic forms and connotations.

This process will be continuously documented throughout the duration of the installation
and the photographs displayed as part of the installation. This will also be streamed onto the
internet as part of our continuous transparency of our process, blurring the published work
between the physical and the virtual connecting many different cultural communities in this
activity (as we have done for the past 5 years).

The participants of the ArtJam New York will be Rick, Karl (on the 7th and 11th) and John
with Simon Taylor (tomato) and Naomi Troski (sculptor) who were essential contributors
of the Makuhari ArtJam (and will be present throughout) as well as local artists Richard
Schwamb, Laura Schwamb and Graham Wood who are part of our ‘extended family’.
The inclusion of ‘local’ artists, such as Toru Yoshikawa at the Makuhari, is an essential
part of our inclusive process.
Graham Wood's no longer at Tomato?
