How couldn't the rest of the government, or even the rest of the people at area51 know that all the people at the front gate were shot, and there's a troop of 'new guys' that suddenly showed up, pointing guns at Indiana Jones?
2) Even if they took over area51 completely... there's no way that the facility would still have been doing regular atomic bomb tests
3) is it just me - or were there parts of the film that "really looked like they were on a sound stage" ... like, I mean - I know that films aren't always shot on location... but at the same time - they at least try and hide the fact that the background is merely painted on a screen!

indiana jones isn't meant to be serious or completely convincing; it's supposed to be fun. the whole plot doesn't even make any sense, but that's the same for all of them. they're unbelievable, but they're still great films.
the only thing i didn't like that much was the wedding scene at the end.
